We are a growing family located in Austin, TX. Not too long ago it was just the two of us. Then we added our fur-baby, Bella. And most recently we added our son, Cole. This blog was created to keep our friends and families updated on the goings on at the Schneider household. Given the new arrival, many of the posts will be geared towards our struggle to learn how to be good parents.
We enjoy watching movies, traveling, photography, reading, and hanging out with friends (preferably while doing anything in this list). You are bound to read some funny stories here as we try to keep it light hearted and you'll definitely see a pile of photos.
So if you like a post, want to share your opinion, or just want to say hi feel free to leave us a comment. We *love* comments.
Cole is getting to such a fun age. He’s talking up a storm (though we can’t understand half of it), he’s climbing on everything (both fun and nerve wracking), and is beginning to get interested in cartoons (Cars is his absolute favorite right now). He’s also at the age where he can understand a bit about the Easter bunny (it’s funny hearing him say “rabbit”) and he had a blast today looking for all of the eggs that we hid around the house. In fact, he had so much fun that we re-filled them and re-hid them during his nap so he could find them again. All-in-all it was a great Easter. We hope that you and your family had a happy one as well.
Halloween is an interesting time when you have a very young child. They aren’t old enough to really enjoy the fun of Halloween, but you still feel some obligation to participate and get them dressed up. Officially this is Cole’s second Halloween (remember last year he was a puppy dog) and we chose a costume that was appropriate for his stage… always moving, picking things up, throwing things, and banging on everything… he was the Incredible Hulk (minus the green face paint and wig/headpiece). He doesn’t pull off the big, mean, scary Hulk very well, but he did enjoy helping us hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters on the 31st

Melanie: “Maybe we should co-blog today.”
Troy: (look of disbelief) “Are you in my head??”
Melanie: “Sixteen years, babe…sixteen years.” (how long we’ve been together)
Every year we celebrate Thanksgiving we have many, many things to be thankful for. This year, in particular, we’ve been blessed with a growing family and feel more thankful than ever. To commemorate our first Thanksgiving together as a family, Melanie and I decided we would write a blog post together and share our lists of things we are most thankful for.
Melanie’s List:
That God was so good to me and helped me find the love of my life early in life
That He was also so good to me and brought me the second love of my life this past August
That I was raised in a family filled with love, with parents that helped me to be the best “me” I could be
That I have a fur-baby that, after five years, still greets me (when I emerge from the bathroom, no less) with kisses and butt shakes like I’ve been away for months
That I have a job that I find fulfilling, challenging, and enjoyable for an organization whose mission I respect and support
That we have good health, a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, and even perks like a dvr and an iMac.
That we have friends and family who are there for us and want for our best, who we can have tons of fun with, and who care enough to read this list…
Troy’s List
my wife… 16 years? seriously? every day still feels new
my son… words can’t express how he’s lit up my life
my family… both near and far… I love you and miss you dearly
my health (the worst thing to happen to me this year was nearly breaking my toe)
our dog Bella who makes me smile everyday, no matter how bad my day has been
my job… the people, the mission, my manager… who approved my 7 week paternity leave
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope you and your family had a great day celebrating all that you are thankful for.
Today’s photos
Morning bath time (Cole had an unexpected diaper blow out that necessitated the bath)
True to the beautiful weather that Austin is known for, today was sunny and 75… October 31st and it felt like a springtime day… gotta love it. Not a whole lot going on at the Schneider house today. We hung out and watched some football (the Horns dominated tonight) and we put a bowl of candy out for the kiddos (too many germs for us to be putting Cole out there with them this year)… but we did dress Cole up as a puppy dog… so cute.
